What screams summer more than a pink floral print dress, a big floppy hat and sandals?  That’s right, nothin’. The past couple Spring seasons were filled with nautical inspired prints, pants and dresses while this year smal floral prints really stole the show. Being girly has never looked so good! You might as well be jumping out of a scene from Alice in Wonderland OR depending on how you decide to wear your floral print this season, perhaps you’ll be out of an episode of Blossom. Don’t pack  your lace up boots for storage quite yet, they are the perfect pair for your new frock.

Parker dresses can barely stay on the rack!

Left: strapless floral dress – $242

Center: peacock silk blouse – $198

Right: floral wrap dress – $220

Designer Spotlight: erinkleinberg

erin

From erinkleinberg.com:

Launched in the Summer of 2008, erinkleinberg was created in an attempt to bridge a gap in the marketplace with a collection of semi-couture tanks, tees, cardigans, and novelty pieces.

With past experience at W Magazine, working under the guidance of Alex White, Kleinberg’s entrepreneurship and love of design were the driving forces behind her namesake line. Recognizing her design aesthetic from the get-go, Barneys New York picked up her very first collection and have since been strong supporters of her brand.

With an eco-friendly twist and hand-sewn beading and embellishments, Kleinberg seeks to provide the ultimate in luxury, yet still maintains the predominance of comfort embedded throughout her line.

New designers will always continue to amaze the masses. With a focus on small embellishments and a more comfortable fit, Kleinberg brings something new to the table at a more affordable price than most. A new twist on a grandpa cardigan and adding a fun flair to a running short, she’s one to watch. Live! On Sunset has barely been able to keep the Spring 2010 collection in stock!

From the collection:

Far left: Morgan Tank in black lace – $170

2nd from left: McKenzie Mini in black – $275

2nd from right: Kaylee Tee in cream – $184

Far right: Tank Dress in black – $325

How They Wear: Military Jackets

military

While florals, lace and frills are in for the Spring season, so is mens-wear inspired. Which we are so excited about, comfort is in again!  Over sized button ups shown with flounce skirts and shorts, “Dad” jeans (think boyfriend fit but longer), and military inspired wear. A light weight one is key for the season we’re going into, unless you live in a city that still gets chilly in the evenings. (LA has that for about another week, soak it up while you can!) This trend is generally a casual one, Katie Holmes (2nd from right) chose the look for a day of shopping in New York and Kate Moss (right) wore hers out on the town in London. Any girl can pull this look off, get creative and pair a jacket with a stripe, floral print or even a spring gingham plaid. Or if you’re fashion’s bad girl like Taylor Momsen (2nd from left), you pair it with a pair of lingerie inspired thigh highs and a short skirt.

To capture Alexa Chung’s look (left):

1. Superdry Military Blazer- take a size up in this jacket to create an oversized look.

2. JBrand Malco Cut Offs in either dark or light denim.

3. Alternative Apparel Silk Modal tank in alabaster.

POP, LOCK, AND SHOP IT INVITE

There’s quite a bit brewin’ at Live! On Sunset this weekend. Saturday and Sunday starting at 10am is a sample sale hosted by Fashion Forward at The London Hotel (a stones throw from the Live parking lot). Brands such as Boulee, Aryn K and Literature Noir will be discounting their previous seasons collections down to wholesale pricing! Live! has taken a red pen to our price tags and will be bringing over dresses from Kaylee Tankus, Anna Kosturova, and the coveted Camilla and Marc wrap jacket. Oh, did I mention it’s shopping around The London’s gorgeous roof top pool and complimentary drinks? Be sure to get there early, before all the goods are snatched up!

In addition to having merchandise at The London, we’re opening up our parking lot for two different things! A dog adoption from Barks Of Love,  they are  NOT a shelter- they rescue animals from shelters and put them into foster care until they’re ready to go out with a loving family. Live! On Sunset will be hosting the pups that are ready for a new home starting at 11am, so if you’re looking for a new furry friend, come see what Barks of Love has to offer!

To keep up with the Spring cleaning mentality, we’re cleaning out our closet once and for all with a parking lot sale! Nothing outside will be more than $25, can you believe it?! Bath and body products from Korres, denim from Seven and even cashmere from Berenice! This sale won’t last long, so you should probably get here right when we open on Saturday.

Last, but most certainly not least, are pet portrait sessions coming from Andy at Furtographs. Whether you adopted a new pooch from outside or have had your buddy for years, they need to be ready for their close up. The session is free to boot! For more information about our “Furtoday” click HERE!

Get The Look: Whitney Port

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

whitneyport

The Hills/The Cityreality starlet and fashion designer Whitney Port is constantly capturing her ”chic yet effortless” style without missing a beat. She’s always in the public eye, especially after the launch of her clothing and accessory line Whitney Eve. To keep from looking too put together, Port will pair a studded handbag with a classic blazer (above) or tattered leggings with a floral cocktail dress. Modeling some of your ensemble choices after Miss Whitney will never fail you, I mean, has she ever made it on the “Worst Dressed” list? No way!

To recreate Port’s particular look- This one from a day of filming on the current season of The City take a peak at the selections the stylists at Live! made:

1. AG 12 Year Tomboy  jeans- a distressed and relaxed jean that literally took 16 hours (16!) to create.

2. Myne Evan Blouse in grey and white stripe- speaking of reality TV, Kristen Cavallari from The Hills has been seen in this very top!

3. Superdry Premium Hyde Blazer- add a little leather twist to a classic cut blazer.

4.  Sam Edelman Zoe Boot- Take off the removable strap to tone the bootie down for this particular look so you have room to spruce it up again with a studded or embellished handbag!

Style File: Summer Must Haves

Monday, April 19th, 2010

With summer quickly approaching (again!), it’s come time to spruce up that fabulous wardrobe of yours with some must-haves for the season.

denim shorts

There’s no ifs, ands, or buts about this one. Denim shorts are summer necessity. Pair them with a silk blouse and wedges to go out with the girls or a simple tee and gladiators for a fresh day time look. While vintage Levi’s are showing back up on the radar, you’ll want to choose a pair that can be paired with anything in your wardrobe. A low on the hip, loose in the thigh, cuff-able pair such as J Brand or Joes is key. One of America’s biggest sweethearts, Ashley Tisdale, just can’t leave home without her J Brand Malco Shorts she shops in them, wears them to High School Musical rehearsal and even wears them to the beach! The Malco short can be seen in the closets of Sienna Miller, Mischa Barton, Lauren Conrad and other fashion forward starlets of Hollywood.

rompers

For the third summer season in a row, rompers are in full swing. These fun and flirty numbers are the cutest way to stay cool when its 100+ degrees outside. If you’re a first time romper wearer, a simple black silk is the route to take. If you’re feeling brave, venture into different colors, patterns and lengths. But remember, there is such a thing as too many ruffles! Hot mama and fashion designer Nicole Richie was seen in a black button down romper like the Twelfth St Cynthia Vincent Black Romper. Nicole isn’t the only celeb that lives in these during the summer months, check with Kim Kardashian and Ashley Olsen for romper-wearing tips.

floral dresses

Remember Blossom? Remember the early 90’s? Get your inspiration from your favorite grunge girl when wearing a floral print dress. In this case, the shorter the better. You don’t want to look like you’re wearing a pillowcase or your moms nightgown. Boots tend to be frowned upon in the summer, but lace-up ankle boots or the Joie New Orleans Boot can be worn with this trend year round. Rihanna is not only a leading lady in the music industry, but is becoming a fearless fashion icon on and off the stage. She’s been spotted on more than one occasion out and about rocking a floral print dress like the Myne Naomi Dress. Rihanna’s good friend Katy Perry is a big fan of floral dresses, but what’s Katy’s favorite line? Sretsis!
